Luke 11:1
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
NKJV
My Comments:
One of the things we must learn from the disciples is found in what they asked of Jesus. They saw His miracles; how He healed the sick, cast out demons, caused the blind to see, the lame to walk, raised the dead.
All they asked Him to teach them was how to pray, and not any of the above. They recognized that all the signs and wonders didn't matter as much as having a relationship with God like the Master did. As much as signs and wonders help to point to God, it doesn't replace the absolute necessity of cultivating a relationship with Him!
Likewise, we should also cry out the same way they did, "Lord, teach us to pray," to know our Father more; that we be more like Him, that we can walk in the fullness of His plans for us in this day and hour; that we may manifest His power!
